Background
Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India (QCIL) will invest ₹1,661 crore in Kerala to expand hospital infrastructure and generate nearly 7,900 jobs across the state.
The investment follows the integration of Aster and QCIL in March this year. Together, the two entities will run 11 hospitals in Kerala with a combined capacity of 4,575 beds, forming one of the largest healthcare networks in the country.
The funds will go toward adding 1,315 new beds across the state over the coming years. Aster alone plans to contribute 834 beds to this target, including a 454-bed hospital in Thiruvananthapuram aimed at strengthening tertiary care access in South Kerala.
The expanded network will deliver tertiary and quaternary care services across the state. Officials said the investment will also support Kerala’s broader economic growth alongside its healthcare capacity.
Dr Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, held a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan before the announcement was made. Moopen said Kerala remains central to Aster’s growth story and ranks among the group’s most important markets.
He pointed to the state’s large pool of skilled doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals as a key strength, noting their reputation across India and internationally.
The Thiruvananthapuram facility is among the projects expected to move forward in the near term as part of the group’s expansion roadmap.
The combined investment reflects growing private sector confidence in Kerala’s healthcare infrastructure and positions the Aster-QCIL partnership as a major player in the region’s medical economy.
