Medi Assist Healthcare Services is registered as an Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) and now uses the UIDAI Aadhaar Offline Verification Framework in its health benefits platform. The system speeds up identity verification and simplifies access to health benefits for members.
It participates in the consent-based identity verification process in different health care services. Members can help verify their identity by providing only information needed for a given transaction, eliminating the need for a photocopy or physical identity document. The system also reduces the risks of document‐related fraud, impersonation and misuse of identity.
The verification process includes location information to aid in verifying that healthcare services are accessed by the intended beneficiary, the company said. This helps to ensure authentic healthcare interactions and member privacy.
Medi Assist said the ability will benefit insurers and employers by cutting down on manual paperwork, as well as improving claims processing with better identity verification. The company will also provide third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance companies and pension funds with its technology platforms for the Aadhaar Offline Verification feature.
The feature is rolling out in various healthcare experiences, the company said. Existing members will be able to do Aadhaar Offline Identity Verification at the help desk of hospitals through the consent-based digital process when they are admitted to the hospital without submitting any physical identity document during cashless admission.
Medi Assist is also incorporating the capability into its MAven app for reimbursement claims, enabling members to verify themselves digitally and eliminating reams of paperwork to slow matters down.
Trusted digital identity is going to be an important factor in India’s digital public infrastructure, the company said. It thinks that Aadhaar Offline Verification will facilitate to broaden the scope of identity verification, minimise identity-related frauds, and ensure that health benefits go to those who are supposed to receive them.
