Let’s delve into the interview details below!
Could you briefly share your professional journey and what inspired you to specialize in orthopedic care?
My journey in orthopedics began with a simple yet powerful realization—that the ability to move freely defines independence, dignity, and confidence. During my training, I saw how joint pain quietly robs people of their active lives. Over the last nine years, treating patients across age groups has reinforced my belief that orthopedic care is not just about surgery; it is about restoring hope. This conviction led me to specialize in advanced knee and hip care, where precise intervention can dramatically change a person’s life.
How do you define leadership in healthcare, and what core values guide your work?
Leadership in healthcare is built on trust. For me, it means doing what is right for the patient—even when it is not the easiest choice. My core values are integrity, empathy, transparency, and lifelong learning. A healthcare leader must inspire confidence not through words, but through consistent outcomes, ethical practice, and genuine care for people.
What key innovations have helped you transform patient outcomes?
I have focused my practice on adopting technologies that prioritize precision and recovery. Key among these are Robotic-Assisted Total Knee Replacement and Partial Knee Replacement (Microplasty).
These innovations, alongside advanced joint preservation surgeries and total hip/shoulder replacements, allow for higher accuracy in implant positioning, which is critical for long-term functional outcomes. My focus is always on choosing the right surgery for the right patient, rather than the most aggressive option.
How do you balance advanced technology with a human-centered approach?
I ensure a patient-centric approach by emphasizing minimally invasive care and rapid recovery. While advanced technologies like robotics provide the tools, the focus remains on the individual’s post-operative pain control and early rehabilitation. My vision is to offer solutions that preserve native joint structures whenever possible, ensuring the technology serves the patient’s lifestyle and reduces hospital stays.
What are the major challenges in orthopedic care in India today?
The biggest challenge is delayed intervention due to lack of awareness and fear of surgery. Many patients suffer silently for years. Another challenge is over- or under-treatment due to misinformation. I address this by focusing on patient education, early diagnosis, joint preservation, and offering precise robotic solutions only when truly indicated. Building awareness is as important as performing surgery.
Can you share a milestone or experience that significantly strengthened patient trust in your practice?
A significant milestone in building trust has been my focus on Microplasty (Partial Knee Replacement). Patients often fear the “total” nature of joint surgery; by offering a method that preserves healthy tissue and restores mobility through smaller incisions, I have seen a marked increase in patient confidence and satisfaction.
Treating patients from diverse backgrounds—including senior citizens, athletes, and spiritually devoted individuals—has been deeply humbling. Successfully operating on respected community leaders and elderly patients with complex joint conditions reinforced the importance of trust, communication, and compassionate care.
How do you envision the future of orthopedic care in India?
The future will be defined by precision, personalization, and prevention. Robotic surgery, patient-specific implants, and data-driven planning will become standard. The future lies in further refining minimally invasive techniques that ensure even faster recovery and improved longevity of the joint. We are moving toward an era of personalized orthopedics where every procedure is tailored to the patient’s unique anatomy using AI and advanced imaging.
What advice would you give to the next generation of orthopedic leaders?
Master the basics, remain ethical, and never stop learning. Embrace technology like robotics—but remember, technology amplifies skill; it cannot replace judgment or empathy. True leadership in healthcare is earned through consistency, humility, and outcomes that genuinely improve lives.
